New York City Enters Phase One of Reopening

Delivering Free Face Coverings to Small Businesses
Since the start of Phase One on Monday, June 8, together with NYC Small Business Services Commissioner Jonnel Doris and Manhattan Borough President Gale Brewer, the Chinatown BID has distributed over 7,000 pieces of free face masks to Chinatown businesses. Over the next week, we'll continue to deliver face masks (while supplies last) and guideline material, courtesy of NYC SBS and NYC Department of Consumer and Worker Protection, to local businesses to help them prepare for upcoming reopening phases.

Restaurant Revitalization Program
The program will provide restaurants with short term payroll support now, funding subsidized wages to employ displaced restaurant workers who will prepare meals (including some free) for their communities. Under the RR Program, participating restaurants will be eligible for funding up to $30,000 each, to be used to pay wages of $20/hour to subsidized employees for at least six weeks.

Recovery Fund for Damaged Businesses: Over $52,000 Raised

Thank you to all the generous 1,100+ donors to the Chinatown Partnership's recovery fund for businesses damaged during the last weekend of May. In just ten days, we've raised over $52,000.

All funds raised will go towards the replacement of damaged glass doors and windows of the affected small businesses only (no large institutions, ie. banks) that do not have insurance coverage. Any remainder funds will go towards assisting with the repair of interior damages.
Apply for Open Streets

New York City is opening 40 miles of streets to allow for greater social distancing during the COVID-19 crisis, with a plan to expand to a total of 100 miles. Open Streets are available daily, 8 am to 8 pm (unless otherwise noted) for pedestrians and cyclists to use the roadbed of the street while maintaining social distancing. Opening hours may vary by location due to NYPD staffing.

Members of the public and organizations wishing to have other New York City streets considered for the Open Streets program may fill out an online survey.
